African Big Carp Holidays
Introduction:
South-African waters are home to some of the world’s wildest and most beautiful monster Carp. Most waters are still mostly unexplored due to traditional methods not targeting big specimens and the sheer amount of available waters. Only during the last 15 years have a handful of anglers been exploring these waters using European methods and found that armor-plated bodies of 30, 40, 50, 60+ lbs are patrolling these waters. These golden warriors are known to be some of the hardest fighting fish in the world.
Searching for waters that hold monster specimens does not come easy, a quest for such fish has taken Carp anglers all over the world from England, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, America, Canada, Alaska. South African waters are unexplored; we believe that record fish is here..
Proof of South African Carp over 80 lbs exists, in one dam 5 fish of over 80 lbs were either caught or found dead between 1970 & 1985, that is 25 years ago! On another occasion an 83 lb carp was caught in the 80’s at Bon-accord dam and recently a 90 lb Carp was found dead in the Eastern Cape! That’s right 90 lbs!
We started thinking about possibilities to bring fellow Europeans to South Africa for specimen carp fishing adventures to explore these magical waters with us. Could it be possible to create such a market? Would anglers travel that far? If so, would there be enough interest shown for a fully professional operation? The answer is YES!!
A research and feasibility study was carried out and shown that there are over 6 million Carp anglers fishing throughout Europe. 25% take fishing holidays abroad, 12% have two fishing holidays annually and 10% are accompanied by wives or girlfriends…. Furthermore, there is no professional operation operated in the Southern Hemisphere, Similar operations can be found in America, Canada and certain parts of Europe. These figures convinced us that a need for a professionally operated carp fishing holiday operator exists, leading to the birth of "African Big Carp Holidays"
Our goal is simple, to treat our clients to adventure Carp fishing holiday packages with the addition of family activities including wildlife viewing and sightseeing for a price that cannot be beaten. For example, Klaserie & Tzaneen dams hold stunning Carp with the huge bonus of being on the doorstep of the world famous Kruger National Park. Clients & their families can therefore enjoy the tranquility of an African sunset next to the water or view the big 5 in the Kruger Park!
A problem that we identified was transporting angling set-ups on airplanes. One is already limited to 20Kg’s per person and would preferably not transport expensive fishing gear in this manner. For practicality, African Big Carp Holidays therefore invested in only the best imported equipment which we will supply to our customers, this includes Fox & Solar rod pods & bite alarms, Shimano Rods & big pit LC reels etc. We see this service as an absolute necessity to make our client’s holidays hassle free. We know that anglers are very particular about their terminal tackle needs; therefore we do not supply terminal tackle. Luckily these items are small and can easily be transported. However terminal tackle can be provided if required.
